The main difference between the old 44" toolboxes and the series 2 toolboxes is the depth. The old ones are 18" deep and the new ones are 22" deep. The series 2 also has full extension slides meaning you get to use almost all of the space in the drawers without having to slide it under the lip of the drawer above it.

I have seen an epic series Snap On tool box with a 6,000 lb cat c32 motor on the top get rolled over a 2x4.
